George has been recognized by numerous organizations for his leadership, infrastructure knowledge, legal accomplishments, and philanthropic activities. In 2016, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) accorded George its highest honor by bestowing upon him the prestigious Outstanding Project and Leaders (OPAL) Award for Lifetime Achievement in Management.

He was recognized as the CEO of the Year by the Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) in 2014 and received the Parcel-Sverdrup Engineering Management Award from ASCE in 2012. George was elected to the National Academy of Construction in 2014 and elected to be a member of The Moles, a leading underground construction organization, in 2010. As a member of the Board of the New York Building Congress, he was the 2012 recipient of that organization's Industry Recognition Award.

George was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers in 2008, on whose Board of Governors he has served. In recognition of his global experience, he has been elected to the International Academy of Construction Lawyers in 2015. He was also named a leading construction lawyer in New York by Chambers USA.

George is a frequent speaker on issues facing the infrastructure industry, having spoken before such diverse groups as The Infrastructure Investment Summit hosted by the Secretary of the Treasury, the Chief Executive Group Roundtable, the Design Professionals Coalition, the ACEC, the Construction Management Association of America, numerous university lectures, as well as appearances on BNN and CNN.
